Restaurant Reviews

LA has no shortage of burger joints, making the comparison game somewhat of a hobby. When a new place bursts onto the scene, I’m always keen to see how it stacks up to standards. Heavy Handed, once a popup in West LA, has popped its way onto Main Street in Santa Monica as the newest smashburger spectacle. The space is super chill – an open patio with picnic tables and the ordering counter perched up like a trophy case.
Coming from the East Coast/Tri-State Area, I’ve found LA’s most glaring gap in the food scene is a quality and classical deli. Sure, there are the classics like Bay Cities or Langer's. But both overplayed and oversold to cater to the masses. I wanted a deli where I could grab a quality sandwich, some life-saving iced coffee, a few light groceries, beer & wine, and maybe something sweet. That’s what I found with Jackson Market, and they offer it in spades.
